Furthermore the specific conditions of the factory workshops often dictate specific coating solutions. This dataset accounts for this by using parameters. The user is able to fit the dataset to his desired boundary conditions; the parameterised model is however not able to cover all possible boundary conditions.
The intended use of this dataset is within the context of automotive industry and the comparison of coated car bodies. It may not be used outside this scope or for comparison of specific coating process layouts.0The data set represents the country specific situation in Germany, focusing on the main technologies and the country specific NMVOC legislation. Imports are not considered. The dataset includes the process of coating 1 piece of automobile body. The number of squaremeters that are to be covered by the different coating processes can be adjusted using parameters. Usually the whole surface area of the car body (often referred to as electrocoating surface) is treated by pretreatment and electrocoating, whereas the primer, base coat and clear coat are only applied on a limited surface of the exterior and enterior of the car body. The amount of materials used for seam sealing, body cavity protection and underbody protection are adjusted by parameters using kg as the reference unit. The process overhead (not to be mistaken for infrastructure) for one piece of car body is also modeled, since the coatings processes themselves cannot be run without the process overhead like conveyours, a heated workshop hall etc. The different overhead processes can be switched on/off by parameter.
Not included in this dataset is the production of the metal substrate, which shall be calculated separately.
Car coating:
It is possible to vary different parameters: the car body surface (Rohbauoberfläche), the interior and exterior coated surface (Fläche_i and Fläche_a), the needed material for seam sealing (NAD), underbody protection (UBS) and body cavity protection (HRK).Application of a coating in automotive serial coating.coatings_water-based application.jpg15.00[5<Flaeche_a<30] [m2] exterior surfaceFlaeche_a + Flaeche_i25.00[m2] total surface10.00[5<Flaeche_i<25] [m2] interior surface1.00[0,5<HRK<5] [kg] body cavity protection5.00[2,5<NAD<10] [kg] sealing80.00[50<Rohb.<110][m2] body surfaceStrom_UBS + Strom_HRK36.60[MJ] total electricity demand for underbody and cavity protectionif(HRK>0;15;0)15.00[MJ] total electricity demand for cavity protectionif(UBS>0;21.6;0)21.60[MJ] total electricity demand for underbody protection3.00[1<UBS<8] [kg] underbody protectionWärme_UBS+Wärme_HRK144.00[MJ] total thermal energy demand for underbody and cavity protectionif(HRK>0;90;0)90.00[MJ] total thermal energy demand for cavity protectionif(UBS>0;54;0)54.00[MJ] total thermal energy demand for underbody protectionUnit process, single operationAttributionalNoneNot applicableNoneForeground system: noneNoneGaBi Modelling PrinciplesGaBi Water Modelling PrinciplesGaBi Agriculture Model DocumentationGaBi Land Use Change Model DocumentationGaBi Energy Modelling PrinciplesGaBi Refinery Modelling PrinciplesCut-off rules for each unit process: Coverage of at least 95 % of mass and energy of the input and output flows, and 98 % of their environmental relevance (according to expert judgement).
